Fashion students shine at awards
A STUDENT has won a first prize at a fashion show of emerging designers - despite not study fashion.
Ryan Kaillie, which is the second year of a course in graphic design at BTS Metropolitan College Birmingham came top in the category Evening dress Midlands Awards fashion designer.
And 19 years in West Bromwich admitted he was surprised to win.
Ryan won one of four awards at the event in Birmingham, with competitors from around the Midlands.
"I was really surprised when I learned that I had won because there were so many people out there who created these beautiful designs and I did not study fashion," he said.
"As part of my graphic design course we had to do a different type of project, I designed three dresses in fashion. Part of this project was to capture the price. "
But Ryan, whose talent was quickly spotted by the judges, said he can now look to try to follow in the footsteps of his idol fashion Alexander McQueen.
