Blue Evening Dress patterns

I am looking for a dress pattern for a Mrs. Beasley doll.?

mrs beasley was the doll of Buffy on Family Affair and was made in 1973. I need the pattern for the original blue dress. Can anyone help me? I would even buy a dress if available.

The only thing I can suggest is to keep an eye on ebay. You never know what will show up on there.

How to cover up bra straps when wearing a dress with spaghetti straps?

Even though the dress is large enough it will not cover a bra with plastic straps. Neither plastic straps nor a strapless bra works for this dress (royal blue, yellow, light green pattern). Is there any product out there like a mock blouse top...

maybe you can actually take the bra put it on, then put the dress on, and where it is most comfortable, safety pin the corner of the bra to the dress-in a discreet and unnoticeable area, then take the bra straps and tuck them into the bra comfortably, make sense?

RunUp to the Runway: Sheer, sometimes madness

Next up was Terry Michael Designs. Refreshingly (for me at least), it began with male models in fine, tailored suits. While the style designs were familiar, it was the material that rose eyebrows. His charcoal suits looked freshly mined from a quarry, the shiny gloss still covering the rock. Suit colors were muted, but accented with ties that popped with rich color. Michael’s collection for women, gave the opening sense of polo players, complete with little versions of a riding helmet.  These dresses dealt mostly in blacks or reds with large, stark silver jewelry accessories, ranging from earrings to bangles. One dress even featured a corset-like front, sparkling with silver and glistening jewels.

J. Rath’s collection was perhaps the most daring of the evening, reminding the viewer the models were women, not just mannequins wearing clothes. Given that Rath has made her bed with boudoir wear, some of the outfits stayed on this delicate path. The second outfit appeared to be cambric white, of such a wispy yet opaque material that you forget where you are. There was touches of ‘flapper girl’ whimsy in the collection, with camisoles and swishing, glittering waist accessories.

Butterick Retro 5556 Pattern Review -A Blue Silk 1950s Dress ...

After sewing three summery 1950s dresses from Butterick 4790, I knew I would be very sad to be without a vintage 50s style dress for winter!  So when I saw Butterick 5556 (an updated version of an original 1950s pattern), it instantly struck me as the perfect 1950s dress for cold weather with its 3/4 length sleeves and mid-calf length skirt.  And only a few weeks after I found the pattern on sale, a dear friend of mine gave me her mother’s collection of fabrics, which included a six yard piece of 54″ wide blue silk dupioni!  My initial thought was to make a formal gown with the fabric, but since 50s dresses can be worn everyday and formalwear cannot, I chose to turn this gorgeous silk fabric into Butterick 5556. Unlike most sewer’s reviews of  Butterick 4790 ,  Butterick 5556  is perfectly designed for the modern figure, and requires few if any adjustments to achieve a perfect fit.   This retro pattern has kimono sleeves, with the sleeves being an extension of the main bodice itself.  Obviously that creates a little bit of wrinkling or bunching in the shoulder and upper bodice area, but when you watch the “I Love Lucy” costumes from that decade, many of Lucille Ball’s dresses were cut the same way.  And of course no one minds having one less step of sewing construction! And after initially trying on the dress for fitting the bodice, I found that it definitely needed more room to make it over my shoulders.  (This could have been lessened had I cut out the bodice larger, but I still think it would have been a little tight.)  So instead of sewing a seam down the center front of the bodice as the patterns direct, I just bound the raw edges, added facings, and sewed some stunning blue and silver buttons down the front.  This way I have the front closure plus the required side zipper closure, making it a snap to get in to without feeling like you’re going to rip the seams out!...
