MANILA, Philippines -- When the people at SM say they’ve got it all for you, they definitely mean it. SM Ladies’ Fashion brought ready-to-wear staples in all shapes and hues and for all summer occasions – with fun heels and clutches to boot.
Bookending the show were Parisian’s shoe-and-bag collection to open and the season’s swimwear line to close out. Sexy, one-piece swimsuits stood out nicely in the latter, though all were black-and-white classics. Meanwhile, amidst a backdrop of models in all-white, ornate pumps, woolly booties and suede wedges shone in the former. The brand’s catalogue does include cute flats and gladiator sandals, while oversized clutches and feminine purses were the word in the bag department.
The clothes showcased fashion fixtures made fresh. There came out several incarnations of the blazer, for instance: as office wear over an otherwise cocktail dress, a color-blocking component in breezier day looks, and even as an overcoat on loose jumpsuits. Evening looks were smart combos of shimmery, form-fitting tops and flowy skirts. Though a bit subdued (holiday?), the palette agreeably gave way to fire-engine red, canary yellow and sky blue. Drapes, ruffles and chiffon added a feel of ease to the various one-shoulders, A-lines and blouses.
