FBI seeks 'Wedding Band Bandit' in bank robbery
Authorities are asking the public to help them identify a man they say robbed a bank in west Houston Monday while he wore a wedding ring.
The robbery occurred at the Capital One Bank at 11697 Westheimer near Royal Oaks Club about 5 p.m., according to the FBI.
Officials said the man, dubbed the Wedding Band Bandit, walked into the bank, went to the check-writing stand and then approached a teller. He carried a hand-written, threatening note that demanded money.
The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of cash and the man left. No injuries were reported.
Witnesses told investigators the man left the area in an older-model, white sedan, possibly a 1996 Toyota .
The bank's surveillance camera recorded the man's image.
He is described as about 40 years old. He was about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighed about 180 pounds. He was thin, clean shaven and had smooth skin. He wore a navy blue cap with a Polo Ralph Lauren logo on the front, a gray T-shirt, navy blue sweatpants and mirrored sunglasses. He carried a manila envelope with papers inside it.
