Fast-falling temperatures could give the region its first taste of snowfall late Thursday evening, with a more significant dose coming on Saturday.
After the state experienced a near record-breaking winter, including the snowiest January in Connecticut history, the expected Thursday night dusting won't have much of an impact.
Meteorologists are reporting that computer models are showing the possibility of a major storm on Saturday that could bring several inches of slushy snow, especially to inland areas. And significant accumulations might be seen upstate.
"The threat for a large-impact winter storm for Connecticut is increasing with every computer model run for Saturday," WTNH's Gil Simmons wrote on his Twitter page. "Crazy!"
Simmons said earlier Thursday that he expected a "messy" winter.
"What I think is we're going to see a very active winter," Simmons said. "For us, I think we're going to get quite a few storms, but I think it's going to be a really messy deal," he said.
